I've had a "Read to Succeed" license plate since they were first offered. Mine, however, isn't a vanity or personalized plate--this is just what I ended up with. One day our music teacher at school walked in and said, "I've really been trying to figure out your license plate and I know the beginning means, 'Read two books,' but what's the rest of it--have fun?" So even if I don't have a personalized plate, mine apparently says, "Read 2 books; have fun!" If it were really personalized, it would say, "Reading is fun!" But the blog is still named R2BHF.

Thing 6
You know it's going to be fun when the assignment has the word toys in it. So I couldn't pick just one. I created a mosaic, a magazine cover, and a trading card. My son appreciated the magazine cover with the photo of him and his son, but I was still looking for something for which I could readily see an immediate use.
It was the trading card. Using a photo of my yorkie Emma, I designed a trading card for the book How to steal a dog from this year's Texas Bluebonnet Award reading list. This is a project that I would like to turn over to students. Maybe this is where I could get students using those cameras to find their own photos to represent a book and create a card for it. Hmmmmm, and could they be used as bookmarks?

Thing 5
Flickr is a black hole that sucks you in and time disappears--there's too many possibilities!
I enjoyed looking at library displays. I have no display case, no bulletin board, no display area in the school library. We do displays on top of library tables and short bookcases, so I'm always interested in what others plan.
It appears from the time I spent in "library" items that librarians in public and university libraries "get" this site more than we school librarians do. And, okay, I spent waaaaaaaay too much time looking at some of the library humor.
Paging through the hundreds of photos of Texas bluebonnets I became aware of how many professional photographers use this venue. I chose one the photos which allowed use to post to my blog. I always enjoy driving to TLA convention in the spring because we get to see so many fields of bluebonnets. This year was an exception--the views were sparse this year. So now I can see one each time I open my blog.
Pondering how I and/or teachers could use it, I realized how little use my elementary students make of the school-owned cameras we have. This year our town is having a centennial celebration and there is little awareness of the richness of our local history. A collection of photographs of local historical sites would be an interesting project.
Further use of Flickr is something I want to review in the comments others have posted.

Thing 4
I'm registered. Now on to more assignments--still playing catch-up here! And, from looking at what and where others are, realizing I need to learn to jazz up this thing a bit. That's why I'm here.

Thing 3
Starting at this late date should finally get me that crown I've been eyeing: Queen of the Last Minute. So, I'm playing catch-up. I got the Avatar made and actually uploaded to the blog so apparently advanced age hasn't eaten up all the brain cells yet. I could also yell, "Foul!" as there are not as many appearance choices for those of us of the silver-haired sisterhood.
Thing 1 and Thing 2
If you're an elementary librarian or you've read Dr. Seuss, you know that Thing 1 and Thing 2 go together. However, here is Thing 2:
A. The easiest thing for me to do is to accept responsibility for my own learning.
B. The most difficult thing is to get beyond the learning and the working to actually working to a specific goal for myself. I get mired in the daily challenges, the problem-solving, the planning for someone else; or I can't get beyond the reading about the creative things I want to do and actually begin doing them.
